Sophie's Mission

Hey hey!!!! First email ever, let's go!!! 

So I'm on my 3rd week as a missionary, my first week done in the MTC which is crazy. If you don't know I was supposed to go to the Mexico Mtc but got re-assigned to Provo which at first was the worst thing ever but now I think it's a big blessing. My family gets to send me packages all the time, they have 3 lbs bags of popcorn, and I got to bring half my closet, best thing ever!!!!!!! Until my laundry got stolen today, God has a funny sense of humor and really knew how to push my buttons No but seriously I really am grateful to be here, my district is awesome, the devotionals are AMAZING, the spirit is so strong, and my bff sister caroline hill is here which is the biggest blessing to me. 

Home MTC was super chill, just Zoom calls all day every day. Luckily I had the whole family in town so on my 5 minute breaks we had a good time, talking or sleeping. I spoke in Spanish all day every day, even when we played pickle ball, saying "estoy stupido" to my opponents. It took me a second to realize I was calling myself stupid. Anyway, grateful I got to be with my family for an extra week and am now grateful to be in-person learning.

As for spiritual, the Provo MTC really knows how to make you feel loved. The spirit is so strong here, stronger than I've ever felt before. The first devotional we had on Tuesday was BEDNAR how cool is that!! (Had to stand in line in the pouring rain for it tho #worthit) anyways, I've been really praying and trying to understand why I'm here and not in Mexico and I think God gave me my answer after meeting my branch president's wife. She said something that has really stuck with me and I think will help any girls thinking about serving. She said "Men are called to the work, but women are divinely chosen from God" How cool is that to know that God divinely chose me? I was selected. I just love that so much and it gives me such reassurance in my efforts. So if any girls are thinking about serving, do it, because God needs you, you're chosen.
