Hey friends and fam!!!! Had a great week yayayay. I'm afraid my emails are going to be long from now on as I've realized I can write things down throughout the week hahaha sorry not sorry. Butttt this will be worth it to me when I look back on my book lol so let's get into it. Funny but not funny story... Hermana Melendez and I were just walking down the street singing a song and all of a sudden we heard a gunshot. We kept walking but stopped singing and just looked at each other in silence for 2 seconds and then looked forward and kept singing. It's better to just press forward.
Guys when I tell you we have no food I literally mean it lol. And it's totally on us because we have money we just never go grocery shopping haha. But anyway Hermana Fraijo gave us some pancake mix that she had in her cupboard (which was covered in dust, a bad sign) so I checked the label... it's been expired for a year and a half, but I still made them and ate them. Just threw some peanut butter on it and honestly wasn't that bad. I'm calling it the mission diet.
My bestie Mellisa just bought a house and I've had her move-in date on my calendar for 3 weeks now. We got to help her do that this week and let me tell ya, never thought I'd look forward to manual labor but this was seriously so fun. It's funny how your perspective changes so much being on a mission. Things you once found dreadful are like a reward.
On Friday we met with one of our new contacts and Hermana Melendez literally went off; she taught with so much power and goodness. I'm being so serious when I say I had tears in my eyes I thought I was the one being taught. She looked at me to speak and I just shook my head like girl no you are killing it keep going please HAHA. There's a video we played about 3 Nephi when Christ comes after his resurrection and it's so simple yet SO POWERFUL. I'm going to link it and everyone should take 3 minutes and watch it. Knowing that Christ is coming again and we will get to feel him and be in his presence just overwhelms me like everyone needs to know this and believe!!!!!!! I've really been studying Christ's atonement and I think it's so beautiful how being on a mission I am being taught too. Like the more I testify and teach the more I learn. It is a two-way street and I already love how much I've learned and grown closer to the savior in just my short 3 and a half months.
We went back to our girl Ariana's house and it's just not looking good ugh but nevertheless we keep trying. I brought my nail polish this time and did her and Victoria's nails. (her little sister, my other bff) Victoria is so cute and gives me kisses and climbs on my lap, sorry not sorry. She made sure I left the house with lipstick, like okay queen you know what's up (she's 4).
THIS IS SO FUNNY, okay so every Friday we eat with the Saucedo family and it's so fun. This Friday their whole family was there and we stayed there for way too long but I needed it cause it felt just like a family dinner back home, we were joking around and laughing so much. Back story, their daughter is the one who hooked me up with my nails, so I was showing her my new nails and Hermano Saucedo was like show all of us and made kind of like an E in sign language like you would to look at your nails. So ofc I do that to all of them to show my nails and they start DYING laughing. I'm like uhhh what. After like a minute they tell me to stop and that making that sign with your hands here in Mexico is like flipping someone off but worse. LIKE OKAY, I CANNOT TRUST HERMANO SAUCADO EVER AGAIN!!!!! It was so funny though he kept trying to get me to do it again but I knew better, don't worry Mom.
Ended the week with a bang. Jose (my convert) took us to dinner in the city after our ward activity and it was so fun. We walked around the streets and it's like a festival every night with tons of booths full of all kinds of different things. And they are decorating for Christmas and it's so cute. (Pray I stay here for Christmas I love the members so much) this night really made me realize how incredible the conversion to the gospel is. It was literally a Saturday night and when Jose would usually be home drinking he spent it with the missionaries and he quote "feels like he's getting his life back". GOD IS SO GOOD AND THIS GOSPEL IS LIFE CHANGING!!!!!!! I love seeing how happy the church makes Jose and it gives me so much motivation to go find so many more people to bless!!!!
