I love my misiones ward 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧

Writer: Sophia SteuerSophia Steuer

Hey! God is good and this week was good. Here are some highlights:

  • Had an epic Nurf war with the district. My dl was sweating he took it so seriously haha love

  • Nancy and Reymundo got married!!!!!! I have been teaching them for over 6 weeks now and we have been waiting for this marriage appointment so they could get baptized

  • Interviews with Prez. He brought up that I need to keep my heart locked. Who spilled the beans???

  • Had a literal facial/makeover with a member during our lunch meal.

  • Found some fire clothes thrifting!!

  • Made tamales with the Fraijos.

  • A limited edition pumpkin shake with waffle cone bits.... twist my arm fine, I'll try it!!! Literally going to get another one tomorrow.

  • King Jose took us to dinner again after we taught him about receiving the priesthood. I will be in tears when I have to say bye to him.

  • At 10:20 pm our front door rattled like someone was trying to open it. We both sat up in fear. I went to check the window and saw Hermana Melendez grab her sandal as a weapon. Her rubber sandal. I actually peed my pants a little I started laughing so hard. But good thing cause then I wasn't scared.

Guys this is so bad. So my district leader is such a prankster and is always making jokes, I literally can never tell when he's being serious. This week he asked me to give the lesson in our district council FOR 30 MINUTES!!!! I literally laughed like he really thought I had 30 minutes' worth of Spanish words in me. Whelp turns out he wasn't joking he turned the time over to me and I almost crapped myself. And to top it off, one of the APs was there (One that's very serious). Thank goodness I had a fun game in mind that took like 20 minutes of the time and then somehow taught the other 10. Teaching missionaries versus teaching investigators is so scary lol I definitely just made a fool outa myself but literally I just don't care at all. I laughed it off right away and now it's just a funny memory. Can't take things too seriously. Learning how to be better every day!!

On Friday I could not finish my food I actually was on the verge of throwing up. The Queen Hermana Melendez took my plate and started finishing it for me but then also got full. So like anyone would do she started feeding my food to the dog. I'm not making this up literally I was laughing out loud. She would take it piece by piece and put it under the table HAHA.

NANCYS BAPTISM!!!!!!! this was the best ever and also the most chaotic and funniest day, just all the emotions. Started off with our mission leader saying he wouldn't be there so we had to coordinate it all. Then Reymundo bailed. (He likes to smoke but we have faith). On our way to the church, we realized we didn't have baptism clothes and went back to the house to try and find some and only had men's size XXL, so we made it work. Then as Nancy was getting out of the font, I realized we also forgot the towel. And to top it off we only had 10 minutes to do the whole baptism because we were so late. You guys it was just such a mess I was laughing out loud.

But even through the chaos the spirit was so strong and Nancy's faith was so incredible. When Reymundo bailed she didn't think she could do it alone. We went to her house in the morning (this is why we were late) to convince her she was strong enough. After a very spiritual conversation with hugs and cries and definitely the Lord's hands, she said "I want to be an example for my husband", and she got up and got ready. We were out the door and to the baptism!!!!! She cried during the opening hymn and while in the font, but good, happy tears. Nancy is amazing and this baptism is one I'll never forget. Partly because it was funny but mostly because of Nancy.

"but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you..... I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you..... because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you." (John 14). Continue with faith and trust that Christ is walking alongside you. Just like Nancy had to do.

Lots of love,

Hermana Steuer
